WWE Releases Velveteen Dream

As first reported by PW Insider, WWE released Velveteen Dream from his WWE contract on Thursday.

According to Fightful Select while Dream hadn't been to several NXT TV tapings in recent weeks, the former NXT North American Champion has been attending open ring training sessions at the NXT Performance Center.

Velveteen Dream, real name Patrick Clark, first appeared with the company as a contestant on the 2015 season of WWE Tough Enough. After being eliminated early in the contest he would later reappear in NXT as Velveteen Dream in 2016.

Dream last wrestled on the December 23, 2020 episode of NXT, being defeated by Adam Cole. He has been sparingly since April 2020 when allegations of him sending illicit pictures to underaged boys and girls surfaced. WWE later commented on these accusations claiming they "didn't find anything".

Clark is the latest in a round of WWE releases that have also seen Alexander Wolfe, Vanessa Borne, Ezra Judge, Jessamyn Duke, Skyler Story, Kavita Devi, Jake Clemons, and controversial WWE referee Drake Wuertz leave the company.
